Del Toro Absent from Stage 6 After Early Itzulia Exit

Isaac del Toro was notably absent from Stage 6 of the Itzulia Basque Country 2026, the Antzuola to Bergara stage, after the UAE Team Emirates rider had already abandoned the race three days earlier.

Early Exit Ends Del Toro’s Campaign

The Mexican cyclist’s participation in the prestigious Basque race came to an abrupt end on Stage 3 when he was forced to abandon following a crash. This meant del Toro was unable to contest the remaining stages of the six-day WorldTour event, including the challenging Stage 6 route from Antzuola to Bergara.

Missed Opportunity in Demanding Terrain

Del Toro’s early departure from the race meant he missed the opportunity to compete in the latter stages of one of cycling’s most demanding week-long races. The Itzulia Basque Country 2026 featured a total distance of 809.6 kilometers with over 16,000 meters of accumulated elevation gain, making it a significant test for any rider looking to prove themselves at WorldTour level.

The crash on Stage 3 not only ended del Toro’s immediate race ambitions but also prevented the UAE Team Emirates rider from gaining valuable experience in the challenging Basque terrain that characterizes this prestigious April race.
