Isaac del Toro delivered a determined performance for UAE Team Emirates in Stage 3’s team time trial, giving everything in the final climb as Visma-Lease a Bike claimed victory in the 28.4-kilometer test around Perreux at the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
Visma-Lease a Bike Dominates Team Time Trial
Matteo Jorgenson’s powerful sprint secured the fastest time for Visma-Lease a Bike, crossing the line at 16:56 to claim the stage victory. The Dutch team’s coordinated effort proved decisive on the technical circuit that started and finished in Perreux, establishing them as the benchmark for the remaining teams.
Kevin Vauquelin and Oscar Onley led Netcompany-Ineos to second place, finishing 23 seconds behind the winners at 16:52. The British team’s solid performance kept them in contention but couldn’t match Visma’s pace over the demanding 28.4-kilometer course.
Del Toro’s Determined Effort
UAE Team Emirates, anchored by Mexican rider Isaac del Toro, put in a spirited performance throughout the team time trial. Del Toro gave everything in the crucial final climb, demonstrating his commitment to the team’s collective effort. However, they finished 7 seconds behind Jayco-AlUla in what proved to be a closely contested battle among the top teams.
Overall Classification Unchanged
Despite the time gaps created by the team time trial, Alex Baudin of EF Education-EasyPost successfully retained his overall lead heading into Stage 4. The Frenchman’s position at the top of the general classification remains secure as the race continues through the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
The team time trial format provided an early test of collective strength, with Visma-Lease a Bike’s victory highlighting their potential as a force in the remaining stages of this WorldTour event.
