Strong winds forced organizers to modify the first stage of the UAE Tour, resulting in a shortened route of 118 kilometers. Despite the challenging conditions, a field of 139 riders took to the start line, with only one registered participant not beginning the race.

Del Toro demonstrated tactical acumen by launching an early attack in the race. His aggressive strategy proved successful as he managed to create a decisive gap, ultimately crossing the finish line ahead of his closest competitors.
