Isaac del Toro has claimed the race lead in the UAE Tour 2026 following an impressive victory in the opening stage. The rider established a four-second advantage over second-placed Cees Bol in a stage that was marked by challenging weather conditions.
Weather-Affected Opening Stage
Strong winds forced organizers to modify the first stage of the UAE Tour, resulting in a shortened route of 118 kilometers. Despite the challenging conditions, a field of 139 riders took to the start line, with only one registered participant not beginning the race.
Decisive Early Attack
Del Toro demonstrated tactical acumen by launching an early attack in the race. His aggressive strategy proved successful as he managed to create a decisive gap, ultimately crossing the finish line ahead of his closest competitors. Cees Bol secured second place, while Antonio Tiberi rounded out the top three positions.
Race Leadership
With this victory, del Toro now holds the overall race lead with a four-second buffer over Bol. The successful opening day performance puts him in a strong position as the tour continues, though there are still several stages remaining in the 2026 edition of the UAE Tour.
